Book Title: Greek Myths
Author: Geraldine McCaughrean
Overview: This book is about about lots of myths from the Greeks, some of the stories may be differnt then what you've heard because these stories have been passed from generation to generation, causing it to change from the original myth told centuries ago.
Comments: This is the book that we are currently reading in English. It is completely filled with interesting, remarkable, moralish Greek myths to enjoy. My favourite story in this book is called "Arachne the Spinner" because it tells us that we cannot be too proud even if we are very good, instead we have to try and improve ourselves more by looking at the things that we didn't do so well. I also like the other stories because they, too, tell a moral that makes you improve yourself. I recommend this book to my family and friends who haven't read it before.
It's the inside that counts....

The Long-Lost Map by Pierdomenica Baccalerio
Book title: The Long- Lost Map
Author: Pierdomenica Baccalerio
Overview: In this mysterious sequel to the Door to Time, Jason, Julia and Rick crossed through the Door to Time in Argo Manor to ancient Egypt. This time, their quest is to find the hidden map of Kilmore Cove in "The Room That Isn't There" according to Ulyssess Moore's clue which he left behind. In ancient Egypt, they met a nice girl named Maruk who was willing to help them on this impossible task. But suddenly, they found out that their worst enemy, an evil villain- Oblivia Newton was close behind their heels, will they be able to get the map or will it be taken by the wicked woman right under their noses.....It's up to YOU to find out!
Comments: This book is another thrilling and exciting adventure from the mysterious Ulysses Moore series that I have mentioned before in the blogs. This is the second volume in the series and it is as interesting, breath-taking and humorous as the Door to Time. I love the Ulysses Moore series because they always make me hold my breath in the scary parts, laugh out loud in the humorous parts and, finally, they make me want to read on. I give this book a ten out of ten star rating.

Someday Angeline by Louis Sachar
Book title: Someday Angeline
Author: Louis Sachar
Rating: 5/5
Overview: This story is about a girl named Angeline who is a genius: she could read when she wasn't even old enough to turn the pages of the book, she knew how to play the piano when he hasn't ever had a single lesson, she can always predict the weather and she was already in the sixth grade when she was only eight. But unfortunately, being a genius only got her into a lot of trouble, mean children in her class called her names, such as genius freak, etc and her form teacher- Mrs. Hardlick hated her because Angeline was smarter than her. However what she truly wants was to be an ordinary eight-year-old kid someday. But will someday come as quickly as she thought, or will more trouble get in her way again???? This is for you to find out by yourself!!
Comments: I think this book is truly well-plotted and fabulously written although it is not as well-written as the novel "Holes" which is also written by Louis Sachar. I like Angeline because she is very clever and smart. I really liked the ending when finally Angeline's father was happy again because he finally found a person he loved after Angeline's mother died during a swim on the Mitchell beach, this is also the reason why Angeline's father never took Angeline to the beach. Eventually, Angeline's father can tell jokes and be happy once more. Angeline also made a new friend whose name is Gary. What a happy ending!! I sincerely recommend this interesting book to you and I hope you will like it!

The View From Saturday by E. L. Konigsburg
This is a very mezmerising book about four students in Grade Six, with their own individual stories and different points of views, develop a special group and attractted the attention of their form teacher, who chooses them to represent their sixth-grade class in the Academic Bowl competition. And they kept winning the champion, when at last, they are about to compete with the best team in another school, will they be able to win, or will they lose? I'll let YOU to find out!I think this is a very excellent book because it tells you about different points of views from different people with different backgrounds. I especially like Julian- one of the main characters because he is very intelligent and can easily deal with awkward situations without people knowing it. I really liked how the authors goes from person to person with different stories, but somehow they all connects to each other in one particular way. I am going to search for other books that are written by this author!

Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver
This is my first book that I've read by the author- Michelle Paver, and I think it is absolutely good! This book is about a person that lives thousands of years ago who could speak wolves' language, he lived a happy life with his father. But after his father's death, he set out on a great adventure to the mountains. What will be waiting and lurking in the dark and creepy forest to get him?I especially like the ending when The Bear and Hord all died and Torak lived, I truly like Wolf because he wasn't only very cute, but also really loyal to his pack brother- Torak. At first, I was quite sad that at the end Wolf cannot stay with Torak anymore because he found a group of other wolves, but afterwards, I think it was actually better for wolf to be with his friends rather than with Torak. The reason for that is, although Torak could speak wolves' language, he is still a human being! I really recommend this book to everyone in the class because it is adventurous and magical.

The Borrowers by Mary Norton
This is my first book that is written by Mary Norton and I enjoyed it a lot! This book is about some little people that are only about the size of a doll that "borrows" your things, whenever somethiing disappears in your house, then it must have been taken by the borrowers. The borrowers only lives in very old houses and they don'e usually learn how to read and write. This novel is a bit mysterious and I think the author must have very good imagination to think that when something disappeared in your house, it must have taken by the borrowers. I quite like the borrowers although they "borrows" your things without your permission to do so, because they are really quite about their size. I recommend this book to everyone, I think you will all like it!
The Cat Who Wished to Be a Man by Lolyd Alexander
This is my very first book written by Lolyd Alexander. I like this book because it is full of wonderfully created characters and what a cat might think of a human being. There is a wizard in this book who is the cat's master, we often only have wizards in fairy tales, and last but not least, it has a wonderful and terrifc ending!
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
At first, I dislike this book because I cannot imagine how can a fairy be so stupid to give a gift of obedience and thought that her gift was wonderful, I think people should have the right to choose whatever we want to do and whether we want to do it or not. But afterwards I felt that this is actually the event that makes this book so great and adventurous. My favourite part of it is the ending when Ella finally married with the prince. I will recommend this book to someone who likes fairy tales.
Glint by Ann Coburn
I think this book is absolutely STUPID and BORING!! Every character in it is all so stupid and crazy!! I truly dislike Ellie because she told everything to her boyfriend- Ross!! I hate Ross because he was actually the one who captured Danny (Ellie's brother) and he kept denying it, reading this book makes me really mad!! If you have a lot of time for you to spend, then you can read this book!
Bedtime Stories for Grown-Ups
This book is fantastic! It tells you a lot of morals towards loving yourself, this book is also excellent by many interesting, funny and maralish stories, it also has a lot of absolutely funny drawings of characters in the book. I love it! My favourite story in this book is Cinderella. Inc because it is the funniest of them all! Have a go at it!
Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo
This is my very first book I've read that is written by Michael Morpurgo and I like it very much! When I was reading the beginning of the book, I thought it must be a totally boring book, but I changed my mind afterwards, when I am reading the chapter "Gibbons and Ghosts". I think Kensuke was absolutely right when he said that he was just like the king of this island and he mustn't leave it. I think this book is wonderfully plotted, very well written and have an excellent ending! I recommend this book to everyone! I hope you will all enjoy it!
The Wild West Witches by Michael Molloy
This is the third adventure in this series, I like it very much. Inspite of some parts of the book is boring, but mostly it is exciting. I escpecially liked the ending when it is connected to the beginning of the story. I am not sure if the evil Wolfbane had died or not, which I really hope he did, because he is so sinister and disgusting that he likes to eat rats and bath in mud water!! I hope you like this novel!
The Time Witches by Michael Molloy
This is the second adventure of this terrific series and I think it was even more exciting than the first book- The Witch Trade, it is also full of thrilling adventure that you certainly cannot miss. I like Paddy the Pooka because he always appears whenever Abigail and Spike needs him. I totally dislike Wolfbane and his mother because they are so sinister and proud. My favourite part of the story was the part about the raising if the spirit of Ma Hamlock because it is so scary and exciting, this book was very easy to follow. I really like Michael Molloy's books because thay are so magical and I want to read more!!
Fergus Crane by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddel
This novel is about a boy named Fergus Crane whose father went onto a voyage to find the fire diamonds and didn't come back. He and his mother lived in a small attic apartment. Because his mother cannot afford to pay the fees for a school he still didn't go to school until he is nearly nine. One day a ship that is called the Betty-Jeane School Ship arrived on the port and it is absolutely free of charge, so his mother instantly decided to let him go to that school. All the teachers in that school are all very strange and weird and there is only five students in the whole school! But when Fergus found about his father and his long-lost Uncle Theo, his life has completely changed into a breath-taking and thrilling adventure that you can only read in stories!!This novel is the first book that I have read by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddel and I think it is marvellous! This book is just simply great! You can hardly take your eyes off it for even one second and it totally drags you right into the story! I am planning to read more books that are written by Paul Stewart or Chris Riddel!

Comments: This is certainly a well-plotted, excellent, adventurous, magical and thrilling novel, I love it! There are a lot of adventurous things that you can't miss, for example, the giant spider attack, the goblins with wicked minds and a magical ring that can make you invisible. I especially like Bilbo- the hobbit because he does not only have the skill to hide really quickly, but also he is really intelligent and uses his common sense to do things. As the book has said, that Bilbo had improved a lot during this journey and he was not the little hobbit who ran out of his house without his handkerchief but a one with braveness and intelligence. I truly recommend this novel to you all! I hope you like it!

Holes by Louis Sachar
I think this book is certainly a mysteriously written story by Louis Sachar. The is is my first book that I have read by Louis Sachar, and I think it is amazing!
I think the opening of this exciting book is really effective because it tells you very precisely what Camp Green Lake is like and what it's like one hundred years ago. It really makes you easy to imagine the scene of how barren, bleak and hot Camp Green Lake is. The opening also used powerful and strong words to describe Camp Green Lake, the opening is also very mysterious. The book also used a lot of implied meanings of which the author didn't write directly. It also travels to different time periods in the same chapter and that is also a little part which makes the story very exciting and breath-taking.
Last, but not least, the ending of the story was absolutely BRILLIANT, which I really liked because I love stories with happy endings!!

The Great Blue Yonder by Alex Shearer
This is story is very moving indeed. I am truly glad that it had a happy ending when finally Harry said to his sister- Eggy that he was really sorry for saying " You'll be sorry when one day I'm dead." and he didn't mean it. Eggy said that she was very sorry too for answering "No, I would be glad." and she didn't mean it either. When Harry finished saying this, he went out on his bike and was actually ran over by a big lorry and he is DEAD!! I am also very glad that eventually Arthur found his mother that he was looking for a hundred and fifty years on the other side.
This story tells us to think before you say anything bad to a person, because you don't know what will happen to him/her on the next minute. I especially like the ending when Harry can go to the Great Blue Yonder with a peaceful heart and don't have "unfinished business" to do anymore. I am very touched by this moving story!! I recommend it to everyone that I know, especially my friends. This is a book that I will read again and again and I'll never get tired of it.

The Umbrella Man and other stories by Roald Dahl
This book is a very mysterious, funny, incredible and memorising book full of a little collection of stories by the famous author- Roald Dahl. I think it is truly fabulous and interesting, indeed. I especially liked "The Man From the South", "The Umbrella Man" and "Royal Jelly" becasue those are the most mysterious ones. I think it is really scar, horrible and disgusting to let someone chop off their little finger when they lose a game! including this book, I really like all of Roald Dahl's books and I have read it all! I totally recommend this book to people who likes mysterious books!

The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett
I think this book is really memorising and heartwarming, indeed!! My favourite part of the story is when Mary found the key to the garden . I think it's really amazing how the secret garden changed Mary and Colin! I think the reason for them to improve their attitude in life would be because they have something to focus on and concentrate on, so they wouldn't be always thinking disagreable and miserable things, but instead they will think about happier ones.I also like Dickon and his mother, because they are all very caring to others and they make people think that living in this world is a good and truly wonderful thing!! I really would like a secret garden of my own to share with my friends!!
I think this book gives the moral "If you are determined to improve yourself and you try really hard, you will be able to do it." This book also tells us that people can be changed by their environment.

Physik by Angie Sage
This book is as entertaining, thrilling, exciting, "magykal", excellent and memorising as Angie Sage's first two books of the Septimus Heap Trilogy, it is fantastic and I totally love it! This book has exciting parts as well as some funny parts and spooky parts too. I felt as if I was actually one of the interesting characters while I am reading it, sometimes I even hold my breath because I am too excited! I really like Septimus because he is funny and really good at "magyk".
I especially like the ending of the story when Septimus and Jenna safely returned to their own Time and the nasty and disgusting queen who drowned her own children- Queen Etheldredra has eventually died, which I am really glad!
There are a lot of reasons why Aagie Sage is one of my top favourite authors, and one of them is because her books are all very exciting, adventurous and you really can't put the book down until the last page is turned and the last word is read.
I really recommend the Septimus Heap Trilogy to everyone, and I will suggest you to read the first two books before reading this one, but don't worry, it will be really exciting, too!!

Replay by Sharon Creech
I feel this book has a really deep moral in it, which tells us that our lives are just like a play, full of interesting, wonderful and exciting events; when we are born, the play begins; and when we die, the play ends. I like Leonardo, although he is too dreamy sometimes, because he has a kind heart and he is also very ambitious about being an actor when he grows up, I think people have to be ambitious and have a goal to achieve whatever you wanted to achieve. I think Ruby must have been really sad when her brother died, and it must be really hard to face this terrible reality, I feel really sorry for her.
I also learned, from this book that's full of morals, that one can change due to his/her environment (surroundings) or because of something bad that happened to him/her. I quite like this book, but I feel it is not as interesting as other books that are written by Sharon Creech. I recommend it to people who want to be an actor/actress when they grow up!!

The Nine Lives of Montezuma by Michael Morpurgo
I am truly touched by this hearwarming story of a farm cat's live, because I think Montezuma is a cute, smart and adventurous cat and I really like him! At first, I didn't like the ending because Monty died, but afterwards, I felt that this is the part which makes the story extremely heartwarming. I think this book is exciting, thrilling, fantastic and excellent. It is certainly a terrific piece of work by Michael Morpurgo, I truly love it!

The White Horse of Zennor and other stories by Michael Morpurgo
This is a really interesting and mysterious book of short stories all written by Michael Morpurgo. I especially loved the last story- Mad Miss Marney because it gives us the moral "Don't judge a person by his/her appearance."
The villagers thought that Miss Marney is mad and is a witch because she always talks to herself and she is ugly, but actually she just only has a little power of healing little animals! I like every little story in this book!! I truly recommend this book to mysterious stories lovers!

My Friend Walter by Michael Morpurgo
This is certainly a truly memorising and charming story written by Michael Morpurgo, I love it! I think it was really heartwarming when at the ending of the story the Throcmortons moved to Hayes Barton and Walter Releigh moved in the same house he used to live in as a child before he died.
I think Michael Morpurgo's books are all very heartwarming, surprising, brilliant and mezmerising in different ways. I love them all!! He is also one of my top favourite authors!! I sincerely recommend this book to my family and friends.

Bloomability By Sharon Creech
I am very touched and moved by this fascinating, excellent, heartwarming and mesmerising story about a girl whose name is Dinnie that moved to Switzerland and a new school to live with her aunt and uncle because her family is too poor.
I think I am just like Dinnie, always moving around and going in to a new school. My favourite part of the whole story is when Guthrie (Dinnie's friend) made a very moving speech at the graduation ceremony about the yellow forest and how they all chose the same road to go to that school because I think what he said was absolutely correct and I am certainly very touched by this part.
I think this book is truly an excellent piece of work by Sharon Creech!! I recommend it to evrybody that likes heartwarming books!
